The
Rise of SMAC Entertainment, the story of a few of Miami's
Real Party Producers
It was the SMAC heard ‘round
the world. In December of 2000, four dynamic personalities
came together to create what would become one of the
strongest event and party promotion companies that
exists in South Florida. Although their backgrounds
are as diverse as the crowds that they attract, they
have a chemistry which translates into one successful
event after another.
In 1988, at
Club MK’s, one of New York City’s hottest nightclubs of the era,
a chance meeting between Bill Spector and Conrad occurred. The two bartenders
became fast friends with a mutual interest in the business of nightlife entertainment.
After a year, Conrad decided to move to Miami, while Bill Spector opted to stay
on in New York and pursue his interest in event planning and promotions. After
an eight year reign as a promotional juggernaut at high profile venues such as
The Grand, Chaos, Limelight, Tunnel, Palladium and The Roxy, Bill turned his
sights on South Beach. Arriving in Miami, the duo once again joined forces, together
reinventing the concept of nightclub promotions. Within a short period of time,
they had planted the seeds for what would become the longest running parties
on the Beach, which would include Homecookin’, Magic Garden, Hercules and
Higher just to name a few.
At the same
time, another dynamic duo was forming as well. Angel
Febres and Mo Garcia, two private business owners
had been collaborating on the idea of a New Year’s
Eve party. They decided to hold the event at Zen Nightclub.
Neither of them had been expecting the results that
were to come. The party was revered as a huge success,
and several of their guests encouraged them to create
more such events on a regular basis, using their
unique flavor. Angel and Mo realized that they had
a talent for organizing successful events which attract
large crowds. This prompted them to depart from their
respective businesses and leap into a world of promotions
at full speed.
It was only
a matter of time before the fantastic four met. In 1997 Bill and Conrad developed
a relationship with Mo and Angel that was both personal and professional. The
two teams had been working side by side on several successful projects for three
years when they made the decision to combine forces.
Today, SMAC
Entertainment, an acronym for Bill Spector, Mo, Angel
and Conrad, is located in the heart of Miami’s
South Beach. Nightclub owners, liquor distributors,
and food manufacturers are turning to SMAC Entertainment
for proven and innovative concepts in marketing
everything from theme parties to chewing gum. With
multiple high profile weekly events at Opium Garden,
Crobar, Mansion and the list goes on. SMAC Entertainment
has proven to be a promotional force with unlimited
possibilities.
