Vitor LimaBrazilian Rising Star DJ Vitor Lima Talks House with FM.

At just 22, Vitor Lima has Dj'd at some of the largest venues in Brazil, and wowed crowds all over South America, Europe, and here in the US. He tells FM about his love of house music, his past influences, and the future.

When and where were you born?

I was born in São Paulo-Brazil in 1982.

How long have you been in music, how long have you been Dj’ing?

Well I started 8 years a go when I was 14. Since I was a child I stayed with my father listening to music.

Where do you live now, where are you working the most?

I live in São Paulo, it's my town, nowadays I have been playing around the country and sometimes I visit other places in South America.

What Djs inspire you?

Many , Carl Cox, Fat Boy Slim, Tiesto, Roger Sanches and etc.

How did you get into music? Into the Dj scene?

I starded playing for teens in a large club, It was my hobbie and became my job. At that time (8 years a go) I started to spin at an important Radio Station Metropolitana FM. I think that was the first step to become a Dj for me.

What kind of music do you represent the most?

Progressive of course. All my productions and Cds are Progressive. This sound is the kind of sound that everybody likes.

What was the last CD you bought?

Mine !!!!!! Just kiding, You have to believe on this, I have just done my new Cd "Dj Collection Vol. 1" and I wanted to give to someone and my label did'nt have any (sold out), so I went to a store and bought it.

When you’re about to play a set, how do you prepare, get into the right state of mind?

I start and I look to the crowd and it goes. There is nothing done before.

What was your first time in front of a huge crowd like? How big was it and where?

Well 2 thousand people in São Paulo. It was hard at the first moment but I did very well. It was in São Paulo in a great party.

What was the feeling like?

So great. You have to be a Dj to know it.

Some entertainers and musicians think of crowds as one organism, a huge animal you have to learn to talk to, what do you think about that?

For me it's different. I mean, each place and each city has a different vibe. You know I think they want the same thing, the same vibe. Well I know how to do it. I feel them, a lot, very in tune with them, so for me I want to be very close to them and do a great job feeling the vibe.

What cities in Brazil do you regularly spin?

São Paulo, Balneário Camboriu (Santa Catarina State), Belo Horizonte, Curitiba, Santa Maria, Ubatuba, Guarujá, Rio de Janeiro, Buzios and may others.

What other cities in South America, the world have played?

Buenos Ayres, Mexico City, Montevideo, Assuncion, Santiago do Chile and etc.

What’s your favorite city so far?

New York and Paris, but I like the small towns from Europe like Lugano.

How about the states, what’s your schedule like for America?

In March and April I will spin in the US, I will visit Miami for Miami Winter Music Conference also, which should be great.

A lot of DJ’s are getting into the movies and video games for soundtracks, do you think you’ll ever try that out?

Yes, Definitely, Why Not? but not now. I am only 22.

What are your ultimate goals in music?

The best success for my productions and to have a good time dj’ing.

When is your next CD coming out? What can your fans expect?

In march with my own productions from my Live P.A.
