Jimi Hendrix Courtesy of Genesis Publications Genesis Publications publishes rare and unseen photos of Jimi Hendrix’s meteoric rise to fame

(PRWEB) -- The late Noel Redding, bass player for the Jimi Hendrix Experience, wrote the affectionate foreword to Classic Hendrix. Many of the 260 photos, taken between 1966-1970, are rare or previously unseen and include live stage shots, studio sessions and backstage material. Musical contemporaries including Ozzy Osbourne and Eric Clapton offer personal insights on the man and his music. The propulsion of Hendrix to world fame from the early Paris Olympia gigs in October 1966 and the intensity of his later career are also revealed. Contributions from 34 renowned photographers tell the story behind the pictures in Classic Hendrix, the new book from Genesis Publications. The book will be available nation-wide from winter 2004.

Other highlights include:
•Hendrix as victim of his own notoriety
•Jekyll and Hyde Hendrix – “aggressive and sexual performer” and shy boy
•The calculating Hendrix courting controversy on and offstage to further his career
•Hendrix “returning to his cultural roots”
•Clapton and Townshend on Hendrix as inspirational and “unbelievable”
•Hendrix as “super hip” fashion innovator
•Shock and disbelief at the cover of Electric Ladyland with 19 “naked lovelies”
•Bizarre pairing of the Experience with the MonkeesJimi Hendrix Courtesy of Genesis Publications

Classic Hendrix incorporates a Sixties inspired theme of silver, fluoro inks and type faces and the photo selection by rock photographer Ross Halfin is accompanied by commentary over 260 pages by Brad Tolinski, Editor in Chief of Guitar World. Published in the autumn of 2004 in a limited edition of 1,750 copies, all are numbered and signed by Brad Tolinski and Ross Halfin. The first 350 Deluxe copies are also signed by Joe Perry and contain a numbered print of Hendrix signed by the photographer Baron Wolman. Every copy in the limited edition of 1,750 copies has been printed to the highest quality and bound in aluminum and leather.
