| Reggae
and Politics: 'Stepping Razor' by Bookman continues
to top the Jamaican reggae charts.
(PRWEB) December 2,
2004 -- By now everyone have heard the catchy hook from
‘Stepping Razor’. There are even a few reggae
and hip-hop fans saying that this and other songs and
popular sentiments among music fans may have played
a small part in Colin’s Powell departure from
the Bush administration. The song is filled with very
witty lyrics from start to finish. How did this relatively
new dancehall artist make it to the top of the Jamaican
dancehall chart so fast? Well to find out the answer
all you have to do is listen to the song where Bookman
belt out lyrics such as the following:
‘Don't
get too aggressive, just be humble
Everyone know the world is a jungle
With all these wars we all gonna crumble
Only love can guarantee we wont stumble’
The song went on to
talk about how the administration saw Powell as nothing
more than a puppet that they could use to do their dirty
work by pulling its strings. For those who did not get
to download the song from Itunes, Napster and some of
the other major music download sites, not to worry.
TCOOO Productions, the label responsible for releasing
the song has now taken a bold step and is making the
song available for free downloads at www.sharenewyork.com/shnyfile/listing/uid/65.
Anyone can download the song from this website and listen
to it three times absolutely free. If after the three
listens they want to continue listening to it, only
then they would have to buy the song. TCOOO’s
other recent release ’18 Karat Reggae Gold’
also available on the site. Bookman also have two songs
on the new album, they are titled ‘Bus di dance’
where he goes solo, and ‘Sweet thing’, a
great collaboration between himself, Lex and Falcon.
When asked why he went from a political song on the
album ‘Any type war’ to doing party songs
on ‘Reggae Gold’, Bookman replied:
“Well ‘Any
type War’ was a political album so I went in that
direction, this time around I wanted to show my lyrical
versatility. Plus there are lots of other political
or message songs on this new album; there is Vineyard
with ‘Stolen Legacy’, Zeego Zaro with ‘Babylon
leave me alone’ and ‘Ring like Bell’
plus many others. So I did something different to add
different feelings to the album’.
‘Any type
war’ and ’18 Karat Reggae Gold’ is
available for download on Itunes, Napster and other
major download sites. The albums are also available
on CD Baby, Amazon and Tower records. TCOOO has also
made all songs from both albums available for free download
at www.sharenewyork.com/shnyfile/listing/uid/65.
This download will allow you to download the songs absolutely
free without providing any information. You will then
be able to play the songs three times. If after three
plays you want to keep listening to the songs, you will
then be asked to purchase them.
