The Festival takes place on the wooded Gurten hilltop, a venue which is considered one of the most scenic in all of Switzerland. The Festival became a showcase for a wide spectrum of music styles, including rock, blues, funk, ethno, reggae, hiphop, triphop, crossover, acid jazz, as well as the latest dance music. This eclectic programme, presented by more than 35 live bands and several DJs, appealed to virtually all age groups.
