The Fifth Annual Club World Awards
2007 Nominees Announced
Nightclub Industry Award Show Set For Wednesday, March 21 View Full List of Nominees
New
York, NY – The Club
World Awards will descend upon Miami this
March, to again celebrate North American nightlife
excellence. The fifth installment of the annual “Disco
Globe” ceremony will take place on Wednesday,
March 21st, 2007 at Opium.The
Scumfrog will return as host, and dance
music’s shining stars will again be invited
to present awards, and to mingle with the best
nightclub operators in the country.
Unlike other programs, The Club World Awards, sponsored
by Club Systems International,
is entirely dedicated to the business of nightlife.
Nineteen categories in six fields honor every element
of a nightclub or lounge, from its design, to its technicians,
to its promotion.
This year’s nominees reflect quality nightlife’s
large geographical spread, with cities like D.C., Dallas,
Denver, Jacksonville, Pittsburgh and Santa Barbara
sharing the spotlight with always-dominant New York,
Las Vegas, Miami and San Francisco. Cielo New York
is set to defend its two-year “Best Club” title,
while Tabu Las Vegas is going for four in “Best
Lounge.” Pacha New York and Crobar New York take
their club war to the globes, duking it out for the “Best
Superclub” title, with Avalon Hollywood, Mansion
Miami, Pure Las Vegas, and The Church Denver.
This year’s “Best Sound System” could
be in Paris Hilton’s namesake Jacksonville club,
Rande Gerber’s opulent Cherry in Vegas, San Fran
Prohibition-style lounge Slide, Pacha’s first
North American location, big-city-style D.C. lounge
Ultrabar, or the bed-filled Duvet New York. And where
else could celebrity DJ AM go up against dance legend
Francois K, Miami favorite son Oscar G, pretty boy
Cedric Gervais and downtown hero Larry Tee for the
title of “Best Resident DJ?”
“No one does what we do,” says
Club World Award producer and Club Systems International editor
Kerri Mason. “Categories like ‘Best Sound
System’ and ‘Best Resident DJ’ get
to the heart of what nightclubs are really about: weekly,
consistent, dogged dedication to creating the best
possible experience for patrons.”
Previous ceremonies drew presenters like Kelly Osbourne,
Danny Tenaglia, Murk, Sandra Collins, Superchumbo,
DJ Rap, and Misstress Barbara; and press kudos in Entertainment
Weekly, Time Out New York, Las Vegas
Weekly, and Forbes.com.
Club World Award nominees are selected from submissions
by the staff of Club Systems International. The
winners are determined by a panel of ten
industry-veteran, expert judges, in all categories
except one: the NightStalker Award, CWA’s own “people’s
choice,” which is determined by public online
voting.
The Club World Awards is presented by Club Systems
International, the only magazine devoted to
the look, sound and feel of nightclubs. Launched
in July 2000, the monthly publication covers the
world’s best venues from technical and aesthetic
perspectives. Club Systems International and DJ
Times are published by Testa Communications. |
