As Ultra Music Festival (UMF), the nation’s premiere electronic music extravaganza, rolls into its ninth year, its producers have announced it will expand into a two-day festival in addition to serving as the official closing festival for the Winter Music Conference. Set for Friday, March 23 and Saturday, March 24, 2007, UMF will return to downtown Miami’s beautiful waterfront Bicentennial Park. Tickets are on sale now.
ULTRA’s weekend kicks off that Friday afternoon at 4:00 pm and runs until midnight. Appearing over three stages is the festival headliner The CURE along with Tiësto (who is slated for a rare live performance), Deep Dish, Shiny Toy Guns and Miss Kittin.
Saturday, the worlds reigning #1 DJ for two consecutive
years Paul van Dyk returns with his signature closing
set marking his ninth appearance with UMF. Other
turntable titans Carl Cox, Erick Morillo, Danny Tenaglia,
Ferry Corsten and Richie Hawtin will perform over nine
stages from noon until midnight. The complete
line-up for both days will be announced at a later
date.
“After eight years of ULTRA my partner Alex Omes and I felt we needed to change things up a bit in order to keep the festival new and exciting as we continue the growth we have been lucky enough to have had throughout the years,” states producer Russell Faibisch. “By adding another day we felt we could offer the opportunity to enjoy live bands like The Cure, who are legends in our culture, while keeping true to our core audience and introducing them to something new.”
Tickets for ULTRA MUSIC FESTIVAL 9 are currently only available as two-day passes at $99.90 for general admission and $350 for VIP, plus tax and fees. VIP includes access to multiple, strategically placed VIP platforms with preferred viewing of UMF stages as well as several designated VIP tents and areas. Additional VIP amenities include: express entry into UMF with separate VIP entrance, VIP bars with no lines, air-conditioned restroom trailer facilities and seating areas with couches. VIP Table Service is also available. Contact vip@ultramusicfestival.com for more info. Tickets may be purchased through www.ultramuscfestival.com now and through select retail ticket outlets beginning in January.
From its humble beginnings on the beaches of Miami
in 1999, the ULTRA MUSIC FESTIVAL—founded by Russell
Faibisch and Alex Omes—has grown to extraordinary
proportions. It has branched out to produce Ultra
and UMF branded events in Miami, New York City (co-produced
with Ultra Records), the Caribbean and Brazil, and will
soon be announcing additional events in various cities
around the world. ULTRA-branded events have sold out
venues such as Miami’s Bayfront Park and American
Airlines Arena as well as New York City’s Central
Park Rumsey Field. In 2004, UMF created music history,
as it became the first festival ever to be aired in HD
on Pay-Per-View to more than 55 million homes for 45
days. In 2006 UMF 8 ranked #7 among international
festivals in the Top 10 Festivals Chart according to
Billboard (December 23, 2006). The ULTRA MUSIC
FESTIVAL was also the recipient of the IDMA Award for ‘Best
International Dance Event’ in 2005 and 2006.
